Newy 87.8 FM – Celebrated British writer Andrew O'Hagan will appear at Newcastle Library on Wednesday 14 October from 6.30pm to 7.30pm as part of the Newcastle Writers Festival's Spring Program.
O'Hagan will speak with Rosemarie Milsom about his career and his most recent novel, Caledonian Road.
The wide-ranging conversation will cover O'Hagan's body of work, with a focus on the novel, which has been described as his most ambitious to date.
Caledonian Road follows art historian Campbell Flynn through a London of immense wealth, social division, political intrigue and moral uncertainty, offering a portrait of a society at a crossroads.
The novel has been hailed as a contemporary masterpiece and a portrait of contemporary Britain, described as hilarious, unsettling and deeply humane. It asks questions about privilege and influence.
Organisers say the book confirms O'Hagan's standing as one of the finest chroniclers of contemporary life.
The Newcastle Writers Festival has acknowledged the Awabakal and Worimi peoples, the Traditional Custodians of the land on which the festival takes place, recognising their continuing connection to land, water and community, and paying respects to Elders past, present and emerging.
