This site and the 87.8 FM live stream are published by Scrambled Eggs Media Pty Ltd (“Newy 87.8 FM”, “we”, “us”), Newcastle, New South Wales. By using the site or the stream you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please don’t use them.
What this site is
Newy 87.8 FM is a local news and radio service for Newcastle and the Hunter. We publish news, traffic, weather, sport and events, and we stream the station live.
How our stories are made. Our newsroom uses artificial-intelligence tools to help gather, draft and check stories from primary sources such as NSW Police, Transport for NSW, the Bureau of Meteorology, councils, courts and the organisations involved. Routine stories from primary sources are checked by automated gates and published by the desk; anything sensitive is held for a person to approve. Tips from readers and reports by other outlets are leads for us to check, never a source we copy from. We correct mistakes promptly — see Corrections below and how we report.
Using the site
You may read, listen to, link to and share what we publish for personal, non-commercial purposes. You must not:
- copy, republish, scrape or redistribute our content or the stream in bulk or for commercial use without our written permission;
- remove or alter any credit, notice or branding;
- interfere with the site, the stream or the servers that run them, or try to get around any security or rate limit;
- use the tip line or any form to send anything unlawful, defamatory, threatening, deceptive or automated.
Our content
Everything we publish — text, photographs, graphics, audio, the Newy 87.8 FM name and logo — is owned by us or used under licence, and protected by copyright and trade mark law. Photographs carry a credit where they are not ours; those images belong to the credited source. Nothing here grants you any right in our content beyond the personal use described above.
Tips and anything else you send us
When you send us a tip or otherwise contact us, you confirm that, to the best of your knowledge, what you tell us is true, and that you have the right to share it. You give us a perpetual, royalty-free licence to use what you send for the purpose of reporting, including quoting it. We decide whether and how to follow up, and we are not obliged to publish anything or to pay for information. We never publish who told us, and we handle your details under our privacy policy.
Accuracy, and not relying on us in an emergency
We work hard to get things right and to say so when we haven’t. Even so, news, traffic, weather and event listings are provided for general information and can change quickly or contain errors. In an emergency, follow the directions of emergency services and official channels — Triple Zero (000), NSW Police, the NSW Rural Fire Service, the NSW SES, Live Traffic NSW and the Bureau of Meteorology — not this site.
Corrections
If we have got something wrong, tell us at newsroom@joshy.net. We will look into it and, where a correction is warranted, publish it promptly and plainly. A corrected story says it was corrected.
Links, the stream and third parties
We link to other sites and services, and the live stream is delivered through a third-party streaming provider. We don’t control those services and are not responsible for their content or how they handle your information.
Availability
We aim to keep the site and the stream up around the clock, but we don’t promise they will always be available or error-free, and we may change, suspend or withdraw any part of them at any time.
Liability
Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts or modifies any consumer guarantee, right or remedy under the Australian Consumer Law or any other law that cannot be excluded. To the extent the law allows, we exclude all other warranties, and we are not liable for any loss or damage — including indirect or consequential loss — arising from your use of, or inability to use, the site, the stream or anything published on them. Where our liability cannot be excluded but can be limited, it is limited to re-supplying the service.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. The date at the top says when they last changed. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the new terms.
Law
These terms are governed by the laws of New South Wales, Australia, and you agree to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of its courts.
