Newy 87.8 FM – Tickets are on sale for the acrobatic circus production Wolf, which will make its Newcastle debut at the Civic Theatre during this year's New Annual festival.
The show, by internationally renowned contemporary circus company Circa, will run for two nights only on 2 and 3 October as a collaboration between Newcastle Civic Theatre and New Annual.
Circa previously performed at New Annual in 2023, transforming Christ Church Cathedral into a performance space with sold-out shows.
Wolf debuted in Germany in 2024 and has been seen in 12 countries. Its only previous Australian performances were two sold-out shows in Brisbane last November.
The production features 10 performers in a mix of acrobatics, artistry and primal instincts, as they grasp, tear, climb, leap and balance.
Festival Director Tory Loudon said New Annual offered audiences the chance to experience world-class artists without travelling to a capital city. "Circa are one of the world's best performing arts companies, captivating more than two million people in over 45 countries," Ms Loudon said.
New Annual, City of Newcastle's flagship arts festival, will run from 25 September to 4 October in its sixth edition.
Other program highlights include the free sunset live music sessions SOAK at Newcastle Ocean Baths, the Spiegeltent's Loca Vida season in Civic Park, and a Night Flowers exhibition by former Newcastle photographer Damien Frost.
The full program will be announced on 31 July. Join the discussion on Facebook.
