Newy 87.8 FM – Construction is underway on the new Caves Beach Ambulance Station, with Minister for the Hunter and Member for Swansea Yasmin Catley turning the first sod at the Kayuga Close site on 18 September.
The purpose-built station is being delivered under the NSW Government's $615.5 million NSW Ambulance Infrastructure Program, which will deliver 30 new ambulance stations and supporting infrastructure across Sydney, the Central Coast, Newcastle, the Hunter and Illawarra regions over the coming years.
The station will include eight ambulance vehicle parking bays with a dedicated wash bay, administration and office areas, staff amenities including a gym, on-site parking, and logistics and storage facilities.
NSW Ambulance identified the location through a service planning process that analysed Triple Zero (000) demand and ambulance response requirements across the region. The station is intended to give paramedics a modern base and additional capacity to support growing communities across Caves Beach, Swansea and Lake Macquarie.
Lipman Pty Ltd has been appointed as the building contractor following a competitive tender process and planning approval. Site establishment works are underway, with construction activity on site to increase in the coming months. The station is expected to be completed in late 2027.
The Caves Beach station complements other ambulance infrastructure investments across the Hunter, including at Gateshead, North Rothbury, East Maitland and Edgeworth. The NSW Government is also recruiting an additional 500 paramedics for rural and regional areas.
