Newy 87.8 FM – The Hunter Joint Organisation's board of mayors and general managers has met in Singleton for its August meeting, covering key priorities for the region as it experiences rapid growth and economic shift.
The board discussed strategic approaches for upcoming visits to NSW Parliament House delegation days in October, as well as key federal priorities for 2027 visits to Parliament House in Canberra.
Guest speaker Alice Thompson from the Committee for Hunter presented on Plan Hunter, leading a session on how the Hunter can align priorities, sequence investment and navigate major economic shifts together.
The board also reviewed proposed Local Government NSW regional motions that address key policy gaps and align shared advocacy priorities.
Port Stephens Mayor Leah Anderson shared an overview of activities and opportunities from her March and June delegations to Singapore, including on the inaugural flight from Newcastle Airport.
Upper Hunter Mayor Maurice Collison spoke about health challenges in regional areas and advocacy opportunities.
The Hunter Joint Organisation says its ten member councils remain committed to driving economic transformation, sustainable infrastructure and stronger community resilience across the Hunter.
