Newy 87.8 FM – The Hunter Joint Organisation is encouraging residents to create their own plastic-free party kits as part of Plastic Free July.
The organisation suggests kits could include reusable plates, cups, decorations and more, allowing hosts to reduce the waste created by parties.
The idea is to invest once and use the kit again and again, avoiding single-use waste.
Residents are also encouraged to share their kits with friends, helping to build a community that embraces plastic-free parties.
The Hunter Joint Organisation is promoting Plastic Free July alongside its Member Councils.
The initiative aligns with the organisation's regional waste and circular economy objective, which aims to promote a circular economy and enhance regional waste management practices, maximise resource value, reduce landfill reliance and foster circular waste solutions.
