Newy 87.8 FM – Newcastle's free grand final live site at McDonald Jones Stadium in Broadmeadow has sold out, with 20,000 fans expected to watch the Knights contest their first NRL grand final in 25 years on Sunday 4 October.

Transport for NSW confirmed ticket allocations for the live site have been exhausted.

The Newcastle Knights will face the Sydney Roosters in the 2026 NRL Telstra Premiership Grand Final at Accor Stadium in Sydney, with kick-off at 7.30pm AEDT. It is the club's first grand final appearance since 2001, and the Knights are chasing a third premiership after titles in 1997 and 2001.

The Knights, who finished seventh this season after taking the wooden spoon in 2025, beat minor premiers Penrith 22–14 in the preliminary final on Sunday 27 September in front of 57,102 fans, with Sandon Smith sealing the win with an 80-metre intercept try and conversion.

At the Broadmeadow live site, gates open at 3.30pm, with the NRLW grand final screened from 4.00pm ahead of the NRL decider at 7.30pm. Full time is expected at about 9.20pm. Picnic rugs and small eskies are permitted, but chairs, glass and BYO alcohol are not.

Transport for NSW is running additional trains on the Central Coast and Newcastle Line and Hunter Line, free shuttle buses from Newcastle CBD, Charlestown, Belmont, Glendale, Wallsend and Mayfield, ferries extended to midnight and light rail every 10 minutes from 4pm to midnight. There is no ticketed parking.
