Newy 87.8 FM – Maitland City Council has opened applications for four $1,000 scholarships as part of this year's International Men's Day celebrations, with men aged 16 and over living in the Maitland local government area eligible to apply.
Councillor Sally Halliday said the scholarships recognise the achievements and potential of local men while providing practical support to help them pursue their goals.
"These scholarships are about investing in local men and giving them a helping hand. Whether it's developing a new skill, pursuing a creative passion, growing a business, improving their health and wellbeing or contributing to the community, we want to help turn their ambitions into action," Cr Halliday said.
Council will partner with Joblink Plus to deliver an International Men's Day event at Maitland Town Hall on Thursday 19 November. The free event will bring together local support services, community organisations and groups, with activities and guest speakers.
Mayor Philip Penfold will announce the four scholarship recipients at the event on 19 November.
The scholarships sit alongside Council's International Women's Day scholarships, which will continue to be offered in March 2027.
