Newy 87.8 FM – Muswellbrook Shire Council is seeking community feedback on a proposal to rename part of Dorset Road as Castlerock Road, following the completion of the Castlerock Road realignment.
The new road alignment, constructed as part of the Mount Pleasant Optimisation Project, is now complete and open to the public. As part of the new alignment, Castlerock Road now connects directly to Dorset Road.
Council is proposing to rename the first 2.5 kilometres of Dorset Road as Castlerock Road, creating a continuous Castlerock Road along the new alignment.
Council resolved at its Ordinary Meeting on 26 May 2026 to publicly notify the proposed road naming change and seek feedback from affected residents, businesses, ratepayers and the wider community. The full report can be found on Council's website.
Written submissions on the proposal are invited until close of business Friday 2 October 2026. Council notes that Facebook comments and shares will not be considered formal submissions.
Any submission made as an objection should include the grounds for the objection. All submissions, including personal information, may be made available for public inspection and may be included in reports to Council, government agencies, or other relevant bodies as part of the assessment process.
