Muswellbrook Shire Council re-elects Mayor Drayton and Deputy Mayor Douglas

Newy 87.8 FM – Muswellbrook Shire Council has re-elected Mayor Drayton and Deputy Mayor Douglas at its statutory mid-term Mayoral election.
Councils where the Mayor is elected by Councillors are required to hold a mid-term election in September, two years after the ordinary Council election.
Mayor Drayton said he was grateful for the confidence of his fellow Councillors and proud to continue representing the Muswellbrook Shire community.
"I'm grateful to my fellow Councillors for their confidence in me and proud to continue serving as Mayor of Muswellbrook Shire. I look forward to continuing to work with Councillors and Council staff to deliver for our community," Mayor Drayton said.
"This is undoubtedly an important time for our Shire. There are significant decisions being made now that will shape our community for years to come, and our focus needs to remain firmly on making sure Muswellbrook Shire gets the investment, infrastructure and opportunities it deserves."
Deputy Mayor Douglas said she was grateful for the opportunity to continue in the role and build on the work of the past two years.
"I'm grateful for the confidence of my fellow Councillors and look forward to continuing to work alongside Mayor Drayton and Council to deliver positive outcomes for our community," Deputy Mayor Douglas said.
Council also voted on a new committee structure to reflect the Council's functions, and appointed the Chairs, Deputy Chairs and membership of those committees.
