Newy 87.8 FM – Planning work is underway for the westbound upgrade of the New England Highway at Maitland, Transport for NSW has announced.
The upgrade includes a new westbound flyover at the roundabout where Cessnock Road meets the New England Highway.
Transport for NSW says the start of planning work means the new flyover is now one step closer.
The project centres on the Cessnock Road and New England Highway roundabout at Maitland, a key junction on the highway corridor through the area.
The announcement was made by Transport for NSW on Friday, 28 August 2026.
