Newy 87.8 FM – A Newcastle sustainability advocate who co-founded two community-led climate action groups has become the first recipient of a scholarship established in memory of former Councillor Sinéad Francis-Coan.
The inaugural award was announced by City of Newcastle, with the scholarship created to honour the memory of the beloved former Councillor.
The recipient has been recognised for their work in sustainability, having helped establish two climate action groups that are led by the community.
According to City of Newcastle, the inaugural scholarship recipient is determined to honour Ms Francis-Coan's legacy.
Ms Francis-Coan previously served as a Councillor with City of Newcastle, and the scholarship was established as a tribute to her memory.
This marks the first time the scholarship has been awarded since it was created in memory of the former Councillor.
