Newy 87.8 FM – Newcastle Writers Festival has announced a special spring program featuring a lineup of Australian and international writers, with four events to be held throughout September and October.
The program includes award-winning writer and playwright Suzie Miller and British author and three-time Booker Prize nominee Andrew O'Hagan.
Miller is a playwright, screenwriter and novelist based between London and Sydney, who practised human rights law before writing full time. Her one-woman play Prima Facie became her first novel, and Inter Alia is her second.
O'Hagan is a winner of the E.M. Forster Prize and Editor at Large of the London Review of Books. His novel Mayflies was adapted by the BBC, and his latest, Caledonian Road, was a Sunday Times bestseller.
The festival's next free Read the Room event will be held at LOLAS on Darby on 12 September, with another reading party planned for October.
A special event will also be held to announce the winner of the $5000 Fresh Ink Emerging Writers Prize, now in its sixth year.
The festival acknowledged the Awabakal and Worimi peoples, the Traditional Custodians of the land on which it takes place.
