Newy 87.8 FM – The Arrowfield Stud-owned and trained Olympian resumes from a spell at Newcastle Racecourse on Saturday, headlining a seven-race long weekend program.

The four-year-old son of The Autumn Sun will contest the 1300m The Prince Of Merewether Benchmark 68 Handicap with Aaron Bullock in the saddle, drawn in barrier 4.

During the autumn, the gelding was beaten three-quarters of a length in the Group 3 Carbine Stakes at Randwick before finishing midfield as favourite at Warwick Farm in May and heading to the paddock.

Olympian has had two recent barrier trials and cruised to the line under a hold on the Beaumont Track on September 23. The gelding races well when fresh.

In the 900m TAB Midway Benchmark 64 Handicap, the Jake Hull-trained Valilee carries 63.5kg from barrier 6 with Mitchell Bell aboard. The winner of three of his five starts folded after leading at Warwick Farm on August 19, with a subsequent vet exam revealing mucus in the trachea.

Richard and Will Freedman's mare My Phar Lady resumes in the 1200m NZB Benchmark 64 Handicap carrying 61.5kg. She has won two races first-up and two from three on the Newcastle track.

The Ciaron Maher-trained Varjak, ridden by former leading Newcastle apprentice Louise Day, lines up in the 1500m Klosters Class 1 Handicap after failing by half a length last start at Illawarra.
