Newy 87.8 FM – One Nation has named Mike Newman as its NSW leader for the March 2027 state election, with the 54-year-old to stand in the seat of Cessnock.
The leadership announcement was made in the Hunter on 28 August 2026. Cessnock is currently held by Labor.
According to a party biography attributed to Senator Pauline Hanson, Mr Newman has more than three decades of experience in financial services across the defence, automotive and aerospace sectors in Australia, Japan, Korea and the UK, and formerly served as NSW Senior Trade and Investment Commissioner for North Asia.
Stuart Bonds will head the party's Legislative Council ticket. The party describes Mr Bonds as a Singleton cattle farmer and coal miner backing NSW mining, agriculture and the regions.
The party's pitch is aimed at coal-industry communities around Cessnock, Singleton and Muswellbrook. Its platform includes reversing bans on uranium mining and nuclear energy, investing in coal-fired power and cutting business regulation, with Mr Newman citing Texas and Florida as models.
The NSW state election, which will elect the 59th Parliament, will be held on Saturday 13 March 2027.
