Newy 87.8 FM – Singleton Mayor and Hunter Joint Organisation Chair Sue Moore has convened the August NSW Joint Organisation Chairs Forum at NSW Parliament House in Sydney.

Chairs and Executive Officers from across the state gathered for the forum, which focused on shared advocacy priorities, council sustainability and strengthening outcomes for communities across regional NSW.

One key item on the agenda was community benefit sharing, with the forum progressing a coordinated state-wide approach to ensure communities and councils receive lasting benefits from major renewable energy and other state significant developments.

The forum also reviewed the delivery of Disaster Ready Fund initiatives across NSW, and looked at strengthening collaboration on disaster adaptation planning, resilience building and preparedness activities.

Participants shared progress on the Joint Organisation Net Zero Acceleration (JONZA) Program and initiatives helping councils reduce emissions, improve energy resilience and accelerate the transition to net zero.

The Hunter Joint Organisation said collaborating across regional boundaries helps ensure communities remain resilient, supported and strongly represented in decision-making at both state and federal levels.
