Newy 87.8 FM – A first-class relic of St Carlo Acutis has arrived in Newcastle, marking the start of a significant visit to the Catholic Diocese of Maitland-Newcastle.
Sacred Heart Cathedral filled with parishioners, families, students, clergy and visitors from across the Diocese, who gathered to honour one of the Church's newest saints.
Bishop Michael Kennedy led Mass, reflecting on Carlo's journey to sainthood, his deep love of the Eucharist, his commitment to prayer and his use of technology to share the Gospel.
The Bishop encouraged those present to consider how they might live their faith with authenticity, purpose and trust in God, reminding the congregation that sainthood is the universal call of every Christian rather than something reserved for extraordinary people.
Following Mass, people of all ages came forward to venerate the relic, taking time for prayer, reflection and contemplation.
The Diocese says Carlo's story resonates because it is rooted in ordinary life. Surrounded by technology and the everyday experiences of adolescence, he remained committed to prayer, the Eucharist and serving others, and his example continues to inspire young people to place Christ at the centre of their lives.
