Newy 87.8 FM – Oversize and Overmass (OSOM) vehicle movements are underway transporting 80-metre long wind turbine blades from the Port of Newcastle to the Uungula Wind Farm development near Wellington, in the Central West Orana.

Live Traffic NSW says changed traffic conditions are in place on John Renshaw Drive, the Hunter Expressway and the Golden Highway, affecting the route from Newcastle to Wellington.

Multiple OSOM movements will leave each week, although the number may vary.

The blade components are scheduled to leave the Port at night time to minimise impacts around the Newcastle precinct. The vehicles are then expected to be travelling between Warkworth and Wellington during daylight hours.

Traffic may be held, or there may be delays, at several key locations. These include the intersection of John Renshaw Drive and the Hunter Expressway, and the Golden Highway at Mount Thorley, Denman, Merriwa and Saxa Road.

Delays are also possible at the Mitchell Highway onto Goolma Road, and at Goolma Road and Twelve Mile Road.

Motorists are urged to slow down and exercise caution when approaching or passing an OSOM load.

Drivers are advised to allow extra travel time and follow directions on site.
