Former Oriental Hotel at Carrington sells for $2.53 million

Newy 87.8 FM – The former Oriental Hotel at 130 Young Street, Carrington has sold for $2,530,000, according to selling agency Wilton Lemke Stewart.

The agency's listing describes the property as the original Oriental Hotel, established in 1885 and one of Newcastle's original pubs.

The building later served as a boarding house and restaurant, and was most recently home to Newcastle Stevedores. It was sold with vacant possession.

The property sits on a 556 square metre block with E1 Local Centre zoning, which the listing describes as a mixed-use opportunity subject to council approval.

The building includes seven office spaces, a boardroom and training rooms, along with a kitchen, lunchroom and bathrooms on each level. There are five off-street parking spaces with rear lane access.

The agency's listing quoted potential income of $144,000 gross per annum.

The sale was handled by Wilton Lemke Stewart, with Nick Stewart named as the listing contact.

The historic building's sale marks a change of hands for one of Carrington's landmark properties.
