Newy 87.8 FM – NGM Group will be the anchor tenant of a 9,000 square metre head office as part of the proposed redevelopment of 711 Hunter Street, Newcastle West, with demolition and ground works expected to begin in early 2026.
In an announcement on 31 October 2025, NGM Group said it had partnered with developer Hunter Street Properties Pty Ltd and Newcastle builder Bloc on the project, which remains subject to statutory approval. Completion is forecast for 2028.
The new building would bring together NGM Group's corporate head office and the Newcastle Permanent and Greater Bank contact centre teams, following the 2023 merger of the two banks.
Project Development Director Gavin Edgar said the office component is a 14-level PCA 'A' grade design with Stewart Architects, targeting a 5.5-star NABERS Energy rating and a 5.0-star Green Star rating. Bloc expects a peak of about 150 workers on site during construction.
Two development applications covering the site have been publicly exhibited by City of Newcastle. DA2025/00512, for a mixed-use development including associated demolition, was exhibited from 2 June to 1 July 2025. A second application, DA2025/01348, covering demolition of the ground floor and construction of commercial premises with ground floor retail and shop top housing, is on exhibition from 18 December 2025 to 9 February 2026.
Both applications will be determined by the Hunter and Central Coast Regional Planning Panel.
