Newy 87.8 FM – The TLE Jungle Juice Cup headlines Newcastle Jockey Club's eight-race program on Saturday, with topweights Oakfield Utah and Oakfield Duke, both owned by Bruce Mackenzie, leading the field.
The popular race was held at Cessnock Racecourse before the track's sale to Racing NSW following the 2019 event. The 2026 edition is a conditional Handicap over 1350m.
Scone trainer Scott Singleton prepares topweight Oakfield Utah, who carries 61kg with Aaron Bullock in the saddle. The four-year-old is unbeaten in two Newcastle starts and unbeaten in three starts on soft tracks, with five wins from nine starts overall.
The Kris Lees-trained Oakfield Duke has won two from four at Newcastle and has nine wins overall on soft or heavy tracks. The eight-year-old won a Benchmark 93 at the Coffs Harbour Cup meeting on August 7 and will be ridden by Grant Buckley.
The 1900m Datatech Newcastle-Cessnock Cup for stayers closes the card, where Chris Waller's lightly raced mare Blenheim Girl will be hard to beat after finishing second at Rosehill on September 30.
The four-year-old, carrying the cerise colours of Ingham Racing, has had seven starts for two wins and a second. She carries the minimum weight of 55kg with Reece Jones aboard.
